F.A.Q.

Can I mix clumping and non-clumping litters?

We do not recommend mixing Sandy with non-clumping litters, this will degrade the clumping ability of Sandy.

What are the ingredients of Sandy Cat Litter?

Sandy is made of Natural Sodium Bentonite Clay. This type of bentonite does not contain soda additive. It has totally natural clumping ability. Contains fragrance which is made of natural ingredients and it’s not harmful to cats or cat owners. Active Carbon is used to increase the ability of absorbing bad odors.

What makes Sandy Cat Litter different from other cat litters?

We use only high-quality Sodium Bentonite to produce Sandy coming from our own quarries. Each year we carefully select the best clays in our mines to use with Sandy.  Sodium Bentonite is a 100% natural clay, when reacts with water it clumps instantly and forms strong clumps making easy to scoop. Since the clumps are strong litter box stays clean after scooping. Sandy is made of fine granules which is soft on paws also suitable for kittens. We know that the dust in cat litters sometimes can be a problem for cats and cat owners. Sandy is specially produced to avoid dust and its practically dust free. Sandy absorbs the liquids very quickly and locking the bad odors inside. Sandy does not need any perfume due to its high ability of ammonia retention and perfumes sometime can irritate cats. Naturally, it has high ability to absorb bad odors and ammonia and can be used naturally as it is. Nevertheless, we did not forget the perfume lovers; in case needed we also produce Sandy with perfume but slightly scented. The perfumes used in Sandy are natural, safe for cats and cat owners. Active Carbon is also used in our litter to maximize odor control.

What should I do if my cat won’t use Sandy?

If you’ve recently switched to Sandy, your cat may need a little time to adjust. This is the case with any litter. You can make the transition easier for your cat by mixing one part Sandy to one-part old litter for a few days to a week. After one week, empty the box completely and refill with only with Sandy.

I’ve changed my litter to Sandy recently and it’s not working! What is wrong?

There are a few explanations for this. Sandy is made of natural Sodium Bentonite and its principal ability is to clump when effectively used. Unlike other clay litters Sandy needs the litter box to be filled entirely. If not, the strong minerals in sandy may stick to the bottom and sides of the litter box making difficult to scoop. When initially filling the litter box, be sure there are 8-9 cm of litter in the box. This initial filling may require 8-9 kgs of litter or more. Second, each time clumps of waste are removed from the litter tray, fresh litter must be added to the box as insufficient litter will inhibit clumping. Finally, do not mix non-clumping litters with Sandy as this will also inhibit clumping.

The cat litter doesn’t seem to be absorbing the urine. What could be wrong?

Sandy cat litter products have proven to be highly effective at liquid absorption. To ensure the product works most effectively, follow the usage instructions on the package for the appropriate fill level at least 8-9cms. Remove your cat’s waste daily and replace the entire litter box as needed. Use one litter box per cat if possible. Finally, keep the litter box in open, well-ventilated areas.

The litter does not control odor. Why not?

Sandy cat litter products have proven to be highly effective at ammonia retention. To ensure the product works most effectively, follow the usage instructions on the package for the appropriate fill level at least 8-9 cms. If the litter box is filled with less amount Sandy may stick to the bottom or sides of the litter box which is principal reason of bad odors. Fill the entire litter box with Sandy, lesser amounts will inhibit the ability of odor control. Remove your cat’s waste daily and replace the entire litter box as needed. Use one litter box per cat if possible. Finally, keep the litter box in open, well-ventilated areas.

The litter I’ve purchased seems lumpy. Is this normal?

Our high-quality control standards ensure our litter products are packaged dry; however, once the product leaves our warehouses, we cannot control the storage methods used by others. The products can absorb moisture and become lumpy if stored in a damp place in the stores or in your home. To prevent lumping after purchase, store your cat litter in a cool, dry place.
